Slurp Slurp Slurp!
The sounds of a young child eating soup
The soup is red and tastes of tomato
Brings me back to the late summer breeze
Swish Swish Swish
The wind blowing past my face
The smell of the hamburgers from the neighbors grill
Brings me back to the beginning of the fresh summer warmth
Sizzle Sizzle Sizzle
My own burgers sitting on the grill
Hot and juicy, awaiting the barbeque sauce and the bun
Brings me back to tailgating at County Stadium
Ding Ding Ding
Order up at the restaurant
The cream and garlic flavoring of the fettuccini awaits me
Brings me back to working at Applebees on a Saturday afternoon
Buzz Buzz Buzz
My front door bell rings loudly
Children with mint tasting cookies ask me to buy some
Brings me back to my childhood of selling them myself
Slurp, Swish, Sizzle, Ding, Buzz
Sums up the sounds of the present
And the food of the past
Brings a medley of flavors to my wanting tongue
